About Us

Who We Are

The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation (Edinburg EDC) is dedicated to making Edinburg a competitive, thriving city for business investment. We connect businesses with the resources, infrastructure, and relationships they need to get started and keep growing. Edinburg EDC is a Type A Economic Development Corporation, funded by a portion of local sales tax. Our core focus is primary job creation, supporting industries that bring new investment into the community through manufacturing, distribution, technology, healthcare, and more. We also invest in the quality of life that makes Edinburg a place people want to call home. Strong communities and strong economies go hand in hand, and we are committed to both.

Type A Eligible Projects

As a Type A EDC, our primary focus is on projects that create jobs and attract outside investment to Edinburg. We support businesses and industries that produce goods or services sold beyond the local market, bringing new economic activity and employment to the city.

Eligible Project Types

Type A projects we support include:

  • Manufacturing, industrial, and recycling facilities
  • Distribution centers and small warehouse facilities
  • Research and development facilities
  • Regional and national corporate headquarters
  • Job training programs operated by higher education institutions
  • Telephone call centers and career centers
  • Aviation facilities
  • Commuter rail, light rail, and bus operations
  • Port-related and inland port facilities
  • Infrastructure improvements that support business expansion

Type B Eligible Projects

Edinburg EDC also supports Type B projects focused on community improvements and quality of life. Authorized by Edinburg voters in 2011, these investments include recreational facilities, public parks, entertainment venues, public safety improvements, and affordable housing. A well-invested community is a competitive one, and these projects strengthen Edinburg for residents and businesses alike.
